NOW and WHEN: Australian Urbanism exhibition.
NOW and WHEN: Australian Urbanism is a 3D exhibition of dramatic existing and hypothetical urban environments — visions of Australia’s potential urban future in 2050 and beyond by leading Australian architects.
The ‘NOW’ by photographer John Gollings features a sequence of 3D stereoscopic aerial views of three contemporary Australian urban landscapes — Melbourne, Sydney and Surfers Paradise — contrasted with giant mining pits.
The ‘WHEN’, overseen by co-creative director Ivan Rijavec and produced by FloodSlicer, features a nine-minute sequence of ideas from 17 architectural collaborations of possible future urban spaces, including floating or submerged cities and desert spaces.
Curated by the Australian Institute of Architects for the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2010, the exhibition’s India tour is presented in partnership with the India Design Forum.
It has also travelled to South Korea, China, Indonesia and Taiwan.
